Ummm ... What the Hell is That Smell?
@HOME. Ok so today is the second day in a row I noticed a foul smell after getting into the car. At first I just thought it was the odor from the rotten salmon I threw out last Thursday night.(trash doesn't come again until Thursday morning) But no, because I smelled it when we went to lunch and then I smelled it again when we came home from work, and then I smelled it again when I got in the car after stopping at Costco. I searched the car for a hint of leftover food that someone may have accidentally put under the seat, but nothing found. Now mind you, the car is very clean and nothing out of place so I was sure I would have seen a food container. I even went to the extent of looking under hood and the wheel wells for a dead animal (I'm not going to discuss that night or the cat I thought was a pot-hole right now) So anyway after we finally get home, Justin looks in the back seat and notices that the floor mat is soaking wet. So after lifting that up, we find that there is about 1/2 inch of water in the right back floorwell. Nice. The car isn't even 2 years old yet. Anyway I did some poking around and I found this plug underneath the underbody that perhaps let some water in as we were driving through a few rather large puddles on the way to get drunk this weekend. Oops. I guess the Toyota isn't made for anything but nice weather. Who knew? Anyway I proceeded to get the shop vac out and vacuum the water. Needless to say I found the source of the odor, it was the mildew from the water. I sprayed the floor down with Clorox spray disinfectant, so hopefully it will be better tomorrow. One can only hope right?
Off to bed before another day at the salt mines. Cheers.
