Hello I'm Rich Brown and this is my personal website and blog. I'm just your simple, average, down to earth, professional, out gay man and aspiring circuit boy, living in Phoenix, Arizona with a few things to say while trying to find my place among all the scary, conservative, religious nuts in this sick and twisted world.

Who Knew Drinking Too Much Leads to High Blood Pressure?
@HOME. I had a doctor's appointment today and was told that both my blood pressure and my cholesterol were too high. I knew it was coming to this, not to mention the fact that I haven't been treating my body very well lately. I looked up 'major contributors' to high blood pressure online today and one of the top was 'Consumption of High Amounts of Alcohol' ... oh nooooo, none of that going on around here now is there? There HAS to be ANOTHER reason right? Probably not. Like I said I knew it was coming to this.
Anyway, in preparation of my impending bad physical, I started back on a solid workout routine at the gym on Monday, and I've decided to cut down on the drinking and junk food. I've really been living an unhealthy lifestyle for the past several months (ok years ... ), and I just need to adjust things to get myself back into better shape and physical health.
Ugh ... this is going to be difficult because I love to eat and I enjoy my drinky-drinky. Oh well, it's all about will power and moderation right? We'll see, I'll just keep my fingers crossed. Cheers!
As someone who was in a similar predicament just last year all I can say is that the hard work is worth it. Since moving back to Arizona I've dropped almost 50lbs and gotten my health back to where it should be. I still eat whatever I want, I just exercise like a maniac. Good luck, remember you want to be around for a long time : )

It's rough at first, but you can do it Rich! We want you to be around and healthy for a long time.
You can still drink, in moderation. And the food, well.....i'm sure the doc gave you all the ins and outs.
Take care of you

I hear you. I am barely 34 (and coincidentally grew up in Mesa), and just today was put on a daily regimen of cholesterol-lowering and blood-pressure-lowering pills. Next I'll be getting social security checks and taking geritol.
Can someone please bring me a walker?
