Hello I'm Rich Brown and this is my personal website and blog. I'm just your simple, average, down to earth, professional, out gay man and aspiring circuit boy, living in Phoenix, Arizona with a few things to say while trying to find my place among all the scary, conservative, religious nuts in this sick and twisted world.

This Is Really Disturbing
|
@HOME. Ok so I didn't go to bed yet, I'm heading there in a minute. I just happened to remember that I have statistics running on my website, so I was looking through them and I got to the section regarding the search keyphrases. These are basically the words that people have searched for and ended up on my website. I'm slightly disturbed by the Top 10 keyphrases that returned people to my site. Good Lord .... What kind of website do I have here? While most of these phrases are a little disturbing, I do especially find the keyphrase 'foul smell at toilet' the most amusing.
I guess this just proves what all you perverts are searching for on the Internet! Why you landed on my site ... Well that's just a mystery.

Testing New Boxer Briefs
|
@HOME. I don't really have anything interesting to report. It's only Tuesday and it feels like it's been a full week already. I finally think I'm over my hang-over from this weekend. Man those damn open bars get me every time. I was talking to some friends about the wedding today and everyone had such a blast.
I am happy to report that as of yesterday, I'm testing out some new Boxer Briefs to see if I find something I like better then what I have now. I just picked up a pack of the Champion Sport Stretch and a pack of the Hanes Classic Comfort Flex. Both brands are cotton mixed with some spandex material, 5% I believe to make them softer and retain shape better. I've had the Champion ones on all day and so far they are doing pretty good. I'm going to test out the Hanes tomorrow and see how they compare. Keep your fingers crossed!
Alright I'm off to bed to get my beauty sleep! Cheers!

Fleming-Magin Wedding
|
@HOME. Ok, so now that I'm finally out of bed and to say the least, not feeling very well. I think I probably did have too good of a time last night, but this was an event that we've been anticipating for years now.
Don and I have known each other since 1992. I first met Don when he was brought to one of my fraternities parties by a friend of his who was pledging at the time. Shortly after Don decided he too was going to pledge my fraternity. Don choose me as his big brother which let to many drunken nights spent at the fraternity house before I eventually graduated and moved to Arizona in 1994.
Mark and I have a unique connection because of Don. There is quite an interesting story that ties all of us together. Mark moved out to Arizona in 1996. It was March of 1996 and my first day on the job at MicroAge. It was also Mark's first day on the job at MicroAge as well. At this point we did not know each other but our cubes were next to each other. We started talking and going through the usual small talk of asking where each was from, he said "Pennsylvania" ... to which I replied "me too!" He told me he went to a small liberal arts college in Pennsylvania called Westminster College. I told him that I went to the Penn State University. Then replied, "oh well my brother and I have a good friend who we grew up with in Pittsburgh and we used to go to Penn State all the time to party with him at his fraternity house." I then said "oh yeah, which house?" Mark replied "Pi Lambda Phi." I said "No way, I was a brother at Pi Lambda Phi ... who was you friend?" Mark said "oh you graduated a few years ago so you might not know him, his name is Don Fleming." So of course I said "this is too crazy, Don Fleming was my little brother at the house..." We both laughed and couldn't believe at how we were tied together like this. Mark and Don grew up together and Don and I were fraternity brothers. After talking some more about it, we realized that we had talked before and that I used to call Mark's house to talk to Don, when he was staying with Mark's family one summer. It's amazing at how small the world becomes. Mark and I have been great friends ever since that day.
Don eventually finished at Penn State and with some coaxing from both Mark and I, he moved out here to Phoenix in 1999. I believe Don and Kris met in 2002 and have been engaged since November of 2003.
Anyway that's the story of how we are all tied together. Here are some of the photos from Kris and Don's wedding yesterday. It was a beautiful day outside, sunny and 80 degrees. We had a really great time.

Weekend Wedding Plans ... No Not Mine!
|
@HOME. Just a quick post before Justin and I head out the door to the gym. This week is actually going pretty well. Things have relaxed at work a bit and the weather is starting to be really great outside. Justin and I have been having lunch and then taking a few laps around the campus.
This weekend is my friend Don's wedding, so that should be interesting. Originally I was contemplating not going just because of the whole gay marriage issue. I've been friends with Don since University, but I was going to make a point. Then the bastard asked me to be in the wedding, what could I do? I couldn't say no to my old college buddy. I guess I could have but then I thought about all the free booze that would be there. I'm also still waiting to see if his bride runs or not. I guess she still hasn't figured out he's gay yet. CMON DONNY ... COME OUT ALREADY ... YOU ONLY HAVE 4 DAYS LEFT! LOL. Ok anyway this is a short one, I'm out of here. Cheers!

To All Of You Who Can't See For Yourselves!
|
@HOME. One last thing before I go to bed. This is for all of you who can't see past your own small minds. As I've always said for years, there are so many different people out there, all with different interests, beliefs, desires, needs and mindsets. I always wonder why it's so difficult for people to just respect others even though you don't understand or even agree with how they have chosen (or not chosen) to live their lives.
This is all so very true for those of us that are gay. We just want to be treated with the same respect and courtesy that is given by default to every other heterosexual without question. Remember this one fact, we are your children, your family, your neighbors, your co-workers and common members of this world. We are not some monsters out there with a plan or an agenda, we are just people with common desires and feelings. I can only hope that someday we will be allowed to show our true love without fear of scorn and be allowed to publicly acknowledge the person we choose to spend our lives with and have that recognized worldwide.
I really do have the best partner in the world and I would never choose to spend my life without him. Justin, I love you and nothing will ever change that. You have taught me so many things and I can only hope that I have done the same in return! Justin is probably the only person who would put up with me and my antics.
What I really can't understand are religious fanatics who find it necessary to work towards making life more difficult for us. They quote the bible and pretend what they are doing is in the name of God. They are trying to make themselves feel like better people and give their lives some sort of purpose. Not to get too deep into religion here, but I was raised Catholic, isn't religion supposed to teach love, compassion, understanding and acceptance. Aside from the Catholic guilt from sins, we take responsibility for our own actions and have to answer to God ourselves. Until then people should actually try to live by their teachings rather then picking and choosing a random passage out of the bible that suits their own agenda.
When it comes down to it I know what is in my heart and if there is truly a God somewhere, he/she will know the same and know that we are all truly good people. We just want to live our lives, be role models for others and strive make our lives just a little better. Isn't that really what life is supposed to be about in the end?
Alright enough of my ranting. I'm finally going to bed! Cheers!.

Saturday Night Out With The Boys
|
@HOME. Ok it's 3:30 am and I decided to post something quick. Justin and I just got back in from our usual Saturday night circuit. Tonight was a little different as we also went out to dinner with some friends. We first met John and Joe out at Pookies Restaurant for dinner. I work with John but this was our first time meeting John's b/f Joe. Justin sort of called it beforehand, as he said Joe will probably be the talkative one since John is usually really quiet. This could not have been more correct. They are both really cute though.

[ABOVE] John & Joe after dinner, Dave, Justin, Joe & John at Amsterdams.
After dinner we headed over to Amsterdam to have a a few drinks and meet up with my old roommate Dave. It was a lot of fun and we just sat around talking and having a really great time.

[ABOVE] Joe & John, and Rich & Justin pose for some pictures at Amsterdams!

[ABOVE] Don and Paul, Dave and Josh.
After a few hours and drinks at Amsterdams, we headed over to Charlies. As usual we ran into Justin's Co-Worker Don and his friend Paul. We always see these guys there and it just wouldn't be a typical Saturday night without them. Dave ran into his 21 y/o friend Josh which later proved to be very interesting!

[ABOVE] Josh's Bannana Hammock and some random fans
Soon after we were at Charlies, Josh revealed to us that he was only wearing a Jock Strap underneath his jeans. He decided to take off his shirt and also let the rest of the bar know this fact. All I have to say is that he became the life of the party (or Bar to say the least) I think it was more funny to see the reactions of everyone that walked by him as they looked down to see his ass sticking out and realizing what he was wearing. Oh well ... Such is life. Josh was quite the little hottie. With all that said, we're now back at home and we both had a really great Saturday night. I think we're looking forward to future time spent getting to know Joe and John. Well that's it for me, I'm off to bed now. Happy Sunday everyone! Cheers!

Too Much Sushi?
|
@HOME. Went out for Sushi last night with Justin, Mark, Andrea, Trisha and baby Andrew. Trisha is in town for Don's wedding with Baby Andrew who was born in December. He's so cute. Trisha is Andrea's best friend and Mark's new sister-in-law. We'll discuss the 2 best friends marrying the brothers later ... Damn Canadian women steeling all of our good men ;-) Andrea suggested we send this picture of Justin, Baby Andrew and I to my mother and say "Mom ... guess what we got this weekend?" LOL.

Anyway we headed over to Sakana's for some sushi. Sakana's is off of Elliott and the I-10 in Awatukee and is probably the best Sushi place is all of Phoenix. We passed the paper around and everyone wrote what they wanted. The cute Japanese waitress came over to get our our order and the she was like "you sure ... this big order?" I assured her we were sure because we were all very hungry. She said "each roll 8 pieces ... this big order!" I guess she didn't believe me the first time, so after some more assurance she finally took our order over to the Chef.

So between 5 of us we ate: 2 orders Edimami, 2 orders Tuna Sashimi, 1 Yellow Tail, 3 California rolls, 3 Philly rolls, 1 Crunchy California roll, 2 Spicy Tuna rolls, 1 Spicy Salmon Roll, and 1 Alaska Roll. That's a total of 112 pieces of Sushi which is around 22 pieces per person. The waitress kept coming back and saying ... "You doing really good!" It took everything I had to eat that last piece, but we were sure that the Chef had a bet that we couldn't eat it all so we were going to surly prove him wrong. We actually ate ALL of it. Following Sushi, we went back to the Mark & Andrea's to hang out over a few beers with everyone including Don, his brother Steve, and 2 of Andrea's friends who just arrived from Toronto for for a visit. Their household is quite full right now. Happy Saturday everyone ... We're off to our usual Saturday night circuit in a while so Cheers!

Photo From Rise Phoenix with DJ Chris Cox
|
@WORK. Ok so I'm taking a break for a minute. I had been meaning to post this picture before. The promoters of the Adonis Party, who also held the Rise Phoenix party series last year had this picture of Justin and I in their photo gallery. It's not the best quality photo but I wanted to download it and post it before they decide to take the old stuff of of their website since Rise Phoenix has ended. The event was on August 10, 2004 and was one of the last of the Rise Phoenix Parties.

Bathroom Hypocrite?
|
@WORK. Ok so I just got back to my desk and I may be the biggest bathroom hypocrite in history. Just a few minutes ago, as I'm coming back from a meeting in one of the other buildings I decided that I should stop off at the bathroom before going back to my office. Basically I wanted to save myself the later interruption in my day of having to run in there at the last minute possible.
So as I get on the elevator to go up to my floor, I press the button for my floor. I must have had a mental block because I suddenly realized that I pressed the button for the floor above my office which is obviously the wrong floor. Without thinking anything about it and before the elevator starts to move I realize my mistake and press the correct floor. The elevator begins to move and I continue my mental thought process of what I have to do for the day. In a matter of moments the elevator doors open and I step off. Now mind you, every floor in my building is painted, situated and furnished in almost exactly the same way.
So I step off the elevator and the bathrooms are right across from the elevators in the main hallway. I proceed to head over to the men's room. As I'm walking I think to myself, "gee ... When did they move these paper recycling bins to our floor, they must have put them here temporarily as I did see the guys rolling them around on our floor this morning..." So I walk into the bathroom. I'm immediately blinded by the bright light as I open the door. I look around and think to myself "gee ... They must have replaced the lights in here it's awfully bright." I proceed over to my usually sitting spot, the handicapped stall located towards the far end of the bathroom. I look around for a second because the doors usually hang open a little bit and that's basically how you can tell that anyone is in there without being so obvious to bend down and look under the stall. The doors were not hanging open on any of the stalls. I did realize yesterday that the door to the handicapped stall was about to fall off the wall, so I thought to myself "gee ... They must have also replaced the stalls in here last night." So I proceed about my business and as I'm sitting there thinking to myself "gee ... New lights, new stalls, how impressive ...." I look down and realize there is a different color of tile in one section of the floor. Now I know that I never noticed this before and mind you I spend plenty of time in that stall. I suddenly realized and thought to myself "OH MY GOD ... I'M ON THE WRONG FLOOR!" I'm sure that the girl coming out of the women's room who saw me get off the elevator and head to the bathroom was thinking the same thing I did the other day ... About how wired it is for people to take the elevator to use another bathroom.
Needless to say I finish my task and walk out into the lobby and sure enough I was on the wrong floor. For some reason the elevator didn't stop on my floor but actually went up to the next floor which I had never before been. This was like uncharted territory. I felt like such the explorer. The bathroom explorer. I thought to myself ... "hmmmm, maybe these people have something here, trekking to other floors to check out the bathrooms ...." So I got into the elevator and pressed the button for my floor. The elevator jerked and actually slipped down about 5 inches before the doors closed and reopened. Well, isn't that nice I thought ... I guess that's a sign that I'm really not supposed to be exploring this uncharted territory. I tried again, this time holding the button for my floor and finally the doors closed and I was returned to where I was supposed to be in the first place.
Whew, now I'm tired after all this adventure today. I guess I'll try not criticize others for stepping off the elevator into the bathroom on my floor, because afterall ... anyone can make such a silly mistake, can't they? Cheers!

My Arms and The Handicapped Toilet Seat
|
@HOME. Let me just say that first off my arms are killing me right now. I think I may have overdone my selection of weights last night at the gym. What was the first clue you ask? I don't know, maybe the fact that I can't straighten out my arms without excruciating pain right now. Burn baby, burn, it feels so good (yeah right!)
So ... As I was sitting and having a little private moment in the handicapped stall at work today I realized why I like that stall more then the others. First is the height. I like having my legs be able to touch the floor, but not feel like I'm sitting in a hole. Second, it's the toilet seat. I came to the realization today that for some reason the contoured seat in that stall really does the trick at getting your cheeks put into the right position to get things moving. Anyway, I just want to know why they don't put that type of seat in the other stalls? Who can say. Alright, I'm off to the gym again. No arms tonight. Cheers!

White Party London & Phoenix Adonis Party
|
@HOME. So one last thing ... of all the times to be in Europe, we will be there at the same time as the White Party London. Now when I first saw this I was extremely excited, as we would love to hit up a London Circuit Party, however my excitement diminished when I realized that it was occurring over the weekend we are already going to be in Paris. Too late to change plans, Eurostar tickets are already purchased. I guess I'll have to suffer from disappointment. (Not too terribly disappointed since I didn't even know it was going on until I was looking through the Circuit Noize magazine today and saw the advertisement.) Anyway Phoenix Pride is coming up and we're going to hit up the Adonis party which is the official Phoenix Pride after party. At least we are finally starting to get some decent parties here in Phoenix. I guess with an estimated Gay community of over 250,000 people they are finally starting to realize they need to have some better parties and events.
Anyway I'm disappointed about the White Party London, but I'm sure we'll make up for it this year by hitting up a few parties on the west coast. It's just not Gay Pride season without a few circuit parties! (If you don't know about such things, the "The Circuit" is a series of gay dance parties that are held around the world. A circuit party gives us the chance to escape the pressures of our day-to-day existence and to enter the altered world where friendship, dancing, love, spirituality and self expression are celebrated) Cheers!Labels: Travel, White Party

End of the Weekend
|
|
@HOME. I need to get my ass to bed but I thought I would write a quick post. It was a good weekend all around. We got much done around the house and had some time to enjoy ourselves. We went out to dinner last night with friends and then Justin and I went out for drinks to a few gay bars. We were out until around 3am and came home. It was a good night. This evening we went to the gym where we did cardio and a weight routine. I keep telling my friends I have to be able to fit into my speedo in Europe, so we are serious about the workout program. (I'm just kidding about the speedo, it's more a figure of speech ... We're not going to be near any temperate water and I wouldn't be caught dead in one of those anyway) Following the gym we went to the store, picked up some groceries and cooked dinner. As for me, it's already late and I need to get a few hours of sleep before I have to head into the office tomorrow. I've fallen a little behind in my Blog reading this weekend, but I'll catch up this week. Have a great week everyone! Cheers!

Nothing Very Interesting
|
@HOME. I haven't written in a few days, #1 because I've been really busy with work, and #2 because I haven't really had much to write about. I guess I'm just going through one of those uninteresting weeks. I did sit and talk to Kevin and Darin via Webcam the other night. That was well ... Unusual.
Justin and I are trying to finish painting the main guest room as we have friends and family coming into town soon and want to be done working on the house for a while so we can enjoy the nice weather. We did get the ceiling and most of the walls done so that was an accomplishment.
Speaking of nice weather, it's a beautiful day outside (86f/30c). I think I'm going to go outside here and cut my front lawn as it desperately needs it since we've been getting all this rain the past few weeks. I think we are finally hitting our spring as yesterday it was 91f/33c outside. I had all the windows and doors open in the house and took a nap after work on the couch. It was nice to feel the warm air blowing through the house.
Well anyway that's about all I have to say for today (In the words of Forest Gump ... "That's all I have to say about that.") I'll probably have more to write about later. It appears as though we may be heading out to dinner with Mark, Andrea and some others this evening and then meeting up with the 'Gays' for our usual Saturday night drinking festivities. Cheers!

No Time To Read or Write
|
|
@HOME. It feels like it's been a long week already. I don't have much time or energy tonight to read or write anything. I wanted to get to the gym tonight but didn't make it. We picked up our tuxedos tonight for my friend Don's wedding in a few weeks. Alright I'm tired, and out of here. Cheers!

Feeling Much Better

|
@HOME. Where does the night go. Well on a positive note I'm feeling pretty much 100% now. I guess my bout with the flu or whatever it may have been was kept short thanks to the flu shot I received last year. I'm just happy to be feeling better and good to go for this week. Anyway this is going to be a short one because I don't have much to write and I want to head to bed a little early tonight. Cheers!

Firms Taking Action Against Worker Blogs
|
@WORK. How appropriate. So knowing that I'm an avid blogger, my friend Mark forwarded me this article from MSNBC regarding Blogging and how it may affect you career. It appears that people are starting to get fired for statements and photos in their personal blogs. I guess that's why I make is a point to not really write about work and how miserable I am here ;-) I can understand a companies perspective if someone is writing a bunch of negative things about them, giving away trade secrets, or posting naked pictures of themselves at work but otherwise I think it's a bit ridiculous. I mean an print on the copier never hurt anyone. LOL. It actually never occurred to me that our jobs are not protected under the 1st Amendment freedom of speech. I guess you learn something new every day. Maybe I need to read up on my law books, especially since I was telling my friends yesterday I was going to go online and buy one of those $50 law degrees you can get. Maybe I'll just become an internet ordained preacher instead, I think you can buy those now too. Just kidding.
As for me ... well I'm feeling much better today despite still being a little tired. I think I'll go to bed early tonight. I would have gotten some more sleep last night had Justin not decided to molest me in the middle of the night. Fun stuff let me tell you. Have a great week everyone and I'll write more later. Cheers!

Not Feeling Well.
|
@HOME. I guess this cold thing is going around since everyone I work with is sick and I've pretty much felt like crap since Wednesday night. I decided to stay home from work on Thursday. I was up most of the night on Thursday and didn't get any sleep, so I decided to stay home again on Friday where I slept for most of the day. I felt better Friday evening, so I went out to dinner with Justin, Mark and Andrea to a cute Irish Pub called Rosie Macaffries in central Phoenix. It was fun and the food was good. With the exception of our trip over to Home depot to pick up some necessary painting items, Justin and I pretty much stayed around the house yesterday. It's been raining again here since Friday night. We have to get our guest bedroom finished up, as it's coming up on prime visiting season, and we'll be having friends into town in the next few months. We did a little painting last night and then watched some TV to end the night.
I woke up this morning with a really bad sore throat and I just feel exhausted again. I'm already dreading having to go back to work tomorrow. I just finished catching up on some reading and I don't have much to write today, so I think I'm going to lay down for a little while. Cheers!

My Ongoing Underwear Crisis
|
@WORK. Ok so I'm taking a moment from my morning to contemplate the question that most guys ask themselves at some point in their lives. Is it Boxers, Briefs or Boxer Briefs? I feel as if I'm going through some sort of underwear crisis right now. When I was growing up it was naturally the underoo's and the tighty whitey briefs. I got to University and it was a natural switch to boxers. I mean seriously you can't be walking around the fraternity house in your briefs, but boxers look somewhat presentable in limited public situations so there is no choice there. I graduated from University and decided to move up to boxer briefs because I'm sophisticated right? Well I've continued my journey the past few years switching between boxers and boxer briefs depending on the occasion. And when I say occasion, the guys should know what I mean by that because sometimes you just need a little more support then others. I usually wear boxers normally but boxer briefs when I'm out and about because they hold everything together. Now here is my dilemma. Maybe I'm not wearing the correct type of boxer briefs, because it seems like by the end of the day the cotton boxer briefs get a little stretched out and aren't as tight around my legs as I would like them to be. Now this may not seem to be much of a problem but it is, because when you are walking if they aren't tight, they start to twist a little around your leg and this is just not comfortable at all.
Ok, so with all that said, I consulted my resident underwear specialist, Justin. Justin is an underwear whore ... He has almost every style / type / brand of underwear known to man. Seriously, he does. He said I should try briefs again, as they wouldn't get stretched out like the boxer briefs do. So last week I went out and bought a 5-pack of funky colored briefs, because I just can't imagine wearing tighty whitey's again. I will admit that over the long haul of the day they hold up much better then the legs of my cotton boxer briefs. So I'm faced with a real dilemma here. An underwear crisis as you may have it. My boxers are fine for everyday around the house wear, but we are frequently out and about walking around, and soon to be heading to Europe for a few weeks which will mean a great deal more walking around. Do I make the switch to regular briefs again? I guess I really just can't get past the fact that I feel like a little kid again wearing briefs. Or maybe I'm just afraid of the general public opinion of wearing briefs, I don't know. Perhaps I just need to write to Dear Abby and ask her. Cheers!Labels: Gay Underwear

Ok I Have To Admit Something
|
@HOME. I was catching up on some random blogs tonight and I saw a bunch of postings regarding the Oscars. I have to admit that I didn't watch the Oscars. Does that make me a bad homosexual? To be honest I could really care less about them. I have more pressing issues in my life to worry about then who won some stupid statue.
Ok so I'm sad to say that my self paced French lessons aren't coming along as well as I had hoped. It' s mostly because I'm so inconsistent about the materials and I always seem to run out of time. There just never seems to be enough time in the day to do what I want / need to do. I have only 2 months before I'm off to Paris so I better get on the ball here. Speaking of that I need to go make my reservations for the Eurostar train from London to Paris right now before I forget. Cheers Again!Labels: Travel

Can You Believe It's March 1st Already?
|
@HOME. I was just thinking to myself today that I really can't believe it's March 1st already. I mean seriously it just seems like it was Thanksgiving and then Christmas. What happened to January and February. I can't complain because it's spring here in the wonderful sornoran desert and today was beautiful day outside. Justin and I sat outside and had lunch together it was nice. Not too much to rant and rave about this week except how busy I am with work. Oh well, I guess that's a good thing it keeps me out of trouble.
Although I do have to say that my baby Berg is going through a rough time right now. I had him out swimming in the pool yesterday and I think a combination of the cold water and him swimming for the ball, he sprained a muscle in his tail. I know that sounds silly but it's actually common for water dogs, of which Berger has become. So since last night he's been moping around whining with his tail between his legs because it's too sore for us to touch or move. I hope it starts to feel better for him soon, I hate to see him suffer and not be able to do anything about it. Oh well ... Happy Hump Day and of course Cheers!
