Happy 29th Birthday (Again!) To Me!
|
@WORK. Just taking a quick break from work. I wonder if BLOG breaks can be substituted for cigarette breaks? Anywho, yes that's right it's my birthday and I can cry if I want to :-P I know I'm getting old because when I got into the office today I had my laptop bag over my left shoulder (1st mistake), my purse over my right (kidding), and my badge hanging around my neck (2nd mistake). I bent down to swipe my badge (third mistake) and I felt a nice pain shoot through my shoulder up and into my neck ... OUCH! I knew THAT one was going to hurt later, and lets just say I can't move my neck now, so this is turning into quite the fabulous day.
Anyway I've been told be several people over the past few days that I need to post more blog entries and that my current entries have been boring. Well I have one thing to say to you all ... it's my blog and I'll post when and what I want. For God's sake this isn't a popularity contest, you don't win a prize if you blog a lot or the most. Do you? Hmmmm. I do have some catch up posts which I will 'try' to get 'round too this week.
So now back to me ... For anyone that's curious I just turned 29 today (for the 6th year in a row) Woo Hoo.

Here's a photo of me from yesterday (1st grade actually) taken to commerate the 6th anniversary of my 29th birthday. God I'm so hot! LOL! I really love the sweet brown hair bowl and retro paisley shirt. Anyway, Happy Birthday again to me! Cheers!

Free for the Weekend
|
|
@HOME. Well it's been 2 weeks and my Mom left today to go back home to the cold east coast weather. It was a good trip for her and I enjoyed having her around, but as we all know it's nice to have the house back to yourself again. I think Justin and I will enjoy the weekend and the nice 80 degree weather we're having in Phoenix right now. Cheers!

Went to Camelot Last Night
|
|
@HOME. Yes I'm still alive, I've just been busy since my Mother's been here and I haven't had time to sit down in front of the computer. Last night Justin, Mother and I went to see Camelot at the Broadway Palms Dinner Theatre, and it was pretty good. I would go back to see another show there again sometime. Anyway I'm beat and off to bed, Mother is here until Friday and my 35th birthday is next Monday so there's still 6 more shopping days left to get me that great gift :-P I'm off ... Cheers!

A Night At the Opera with Carmen by Georges Bizet
|
@HOME. So last night Justin, my Mother and I went to the Opera. We saw Carmen by Georges Bizet at the Tucson Music Center. Yes that's right, Tucson, only because it was playing there this weekend and not again in Phoenix. The weather outside was beautiful and it was quite a lovely drive down to Tucson. We left around 3:30 PM to head down for dinner before the Opera.

Arriving in Tucson right around 5:00 we had made reservations at a fabulous little place called the Cushing Street Restaurant. It is situated in a building that is over 145 years old and full of history. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was simply gushing with ambiance. Since the Cushing Street Restaurant was across the street from the Tucson Music Center, it quickly filled with show-goers dressed up in their best night out attire. For the event, Justin and I both broke out the tuxedos and my Mother in a very stunning and sophisticated cocktail dress. The old gal dosen't look bad at all for 66, lets just say those Czech girls really know how to hide their age. Needless to say, we were simply glamorous and even received a few nice comments at the restaurant.

As for the Opera, Carmen started promptly at 7:30 and it was fabulous. All the performers, especially the one playing the part of Carmen were amazing. We had very nice seats, about half way back from the Orchestra pit and a little to the left. The total show ran for a little over 3 hours with 2 intermissions of 20 minutes each. I have to say we all enjoyed ourselves very much and had a great evening dressed up and out on the town. Cheers!

The Nighttime Sky
|
@HOME. I should be in bed but my Mother is getting in today, so I wanted to finish getting the house cleaned up. I know she doesn't expect everything to be perfect, but I just feel better knowing it is :-)
I was just about to head to bed after finishing up when I decided to sit outside by the pool for a few minutes for a moment of solitude and to enjoy the beautiful Arizona fall evening temperature. I looked up in the sky and was amazed, almost speechless at how bright the stars were tonight. I couldn't help staring up in the sky at each and every glittering star. In some small way it makes me feel content to know there is this huge unexplored space out there and we're just one small, tiny, insignificant part of it all. It makes you realize that sometimes you just have to sit back, relax and enjoy the stars because this life passes us by so quickly you just might miss it. Lastly, to me looking at the stars also brings to mind the simple and age-old question ... we can't be the only ones out there, can we? I believe if you can look up at the vastness of it all and have the arrogance to think that we're the only ones out there then you really better consider opening up your mind a bit more, because I'd hate for you to be surprised for what the future possibly holds.
Alright I'm off to bed as I have to head to the airport early. Cheers!

Reinstalled Between Drinking Binges
|

@HOME. Hey kiddies, sorry I haven't posted for a bit nor had a chance to read some of my favorite blogs. I was having some issues with the laptop, so I decided reinstalled this weekend in between drinking binges. As many of you know it was the annual Rainbows Festival on Saturday and Sunday which is our fall gay & lesbian street fair in Phoenix. It was fun and just another excuse for all the gays to get together and drink, drink and drink some more. Justin and I headed down with Mark and Andrea on Saturday afternoon and had a fabulous time in the beer garden. I have some photos that I took, and will post them later this week.
I'm jetting off to Los Angeles for the day on Wednesday for a work related conference which sucks because that means fly in, geeks, conference, geeks, and fly home. No time for La La Land fun. Oh well, next time. Justin and I have some time off again here next month so maybe we'll head out and play. Alright, that's it for now, I'm off to bed. Cheers!
