My Blog: Living My Life Out Loud
Hello I'm Rich Brown and this is my personal website and blog. I'm just your simple, average, down to earth, professional, out gay man and aspiring circuit boy, living in Phoenix, Arizona with a few things to say while trying to find my place among all the scary, conservative, religious nuts in this sick and twisted world.

Happy Birthday To Me
Well first, yes I'm back from Los Angeles. Justin and got back in around midnight on Sunday night. It was very difficult to go back to work today after a weekend of debauchery with my friends in Los Angeles. I'll post photos and details shortly.

Tonight Justin and I went to the movies to see 'The Departed' since we had two movies passes that expired tomorrow. I'll just say that the movie was incredibly well done and a great story line. For me it was along the lines of Crash and I would highly recommend going to see it.

Lastly it's now 12:57 and it's officially my 36th Birthday. Yes this is a shameless self-birthday promotion post and I don't even care. I'm telling you bitches yet again so you can plan accordingly for next year and remember to send the presents early!

Philip, Bernard, Tony, Roger, and Justin all helped me to an early celebration this past weekend in Los Angeles, and it was great. I really am very lucky to have such wonderful friends. I don't really have anything special planned for my birthday today. Work is going to be pretty busy and following it, I'm probably going out to dinner to my favorite restaurant, AZ-88, with at least my Mom and Justin, and hopefully Mark and Andrea as well if they can join us. In all honesty I've never really been one to be big on birthdays, it's just another day, but it does make you feel special and loved when people remember. So thanks to Clint and Dan for their early wishes this evening.

I've been mentally preparing myself for this day because it officially marks the year that I'm now closer to 40 then I was to 30. I'm not sure if I'm ready that yet or not, but I suppose there isn't much I can do about it. I've seen quite a bit over these 36 years and I can honestly say that I'm happier now then I've been in a really long time, so that has to count for something right? I have an amazing partner (Justin), a wonderful little puppy (Berger), a supportive family (My Mother and the clan back east), amazing friends (You know who you are!), a beautiful home, a good job and my health. I wouldn't consider myself lucky, I would consider myself incredibly fortunate and as my Mother likes to point out, very blessed, to have all the pieces of my life fit together so well.

Well that's it, I'm off to bed to dream a little before I have to get up and head into the office. I promise I'll post photos from the trip this week. Happy Birthday to me and cheers to the rest of you!

Off To Los Angeles
That's right kids, Justin and I are off to Los Angeles to meet up with our friends for a short weekend trip as an early celebration of my 30th (wink, wink) birthday next Tuesday. We fly out tomorrow right after work and head back on Sunday evening. We're meeting Philip, Bernard & Tony and will be staying at Phillips new pad in Santa Monica.

I'm excited about going out and spending some time in LA. It's been a few years since I've stayed in LA and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to go out and party it up in West Hollywood, so step aside Lance Bass and Richen, the Phoenix boys are coming to town.

I'll post some photos from the trip when I get back next week. Have a great weekend everyone! Cheers!

Prop 107 and the Prop107.com Website
If you live in Arizona and you haven't heard about Prop 107 then you haven't been listening.

Click Here to Visit the Prop107.com Website

Prop 107 known as the "Protect marriage Arizona" Amendment is a proposed ballot measure for the 2006 Arizona General Election. It states: "To preserve and protect marriage in this state, only a union between one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage by this state or its political subdivisions and no legal status for unmarried persons shall be created or recognized by this state or its political subdivisions that is similar to that of marriage."

Anyway my main point of this post isn't really about Prop 107. You know my feeling on that from this past post, it's wrong and you should Vote NO on Prop 107, simply because over 100,000 Arizonans could lose their health insurance benefits, hospital visitations, the power to make decisions for loved ones in the case of an emergency and inheritance rights if the amendment passes. My main point is about the Prop107.com website.

About Prop107.com

Prop107.com is a parody website which spoofs the anti-gay rhetoric that's being feed to the masses these days and cuts right through the jargon. It's been featured in articles by the Arizona Republic, the Tucson Weekly and other local Arizona publications. Apparently the site has the supporters of Prop 107 very angry and has help caused a bit of a stir around Prop 107 and it's true intentions.

According to a one of the articles on Prop107.com, "The definition of what is a man, and what is a woman, remains a big gaping hole that needs to be plugged. Just because someone says they are a woman doesn't mean they really are."

Prop107.com is an enlightening and interesting website even if you don't live in Arizona and would like some insight as to the insanity that we have to deal with on a daily basis. Check it out it's worth it.

My Feelings About Proposition 107

Proposition 107 is being pushed by a bunch of right-wing, conservative, religious fanatics who have nothing better to do with their lives then try and see that my personal relationship is completely BANNED. That's right banned. Prop 107 goes too far because technically marriage between gays is already 'illegal' in Arizona by law, but Prop 107 will also restrict the ability for any type of domestic partnership or Civil Union in this state, gay or straight, it blocks the rights of any unmarried couples.

Basically the people in support of Prop 107 have proceeded to bombard us with their rhetoric and 'Activist Judges" banter in trying to justify yet adding more discrimination to our constitution. (Which brings up another entirely different issue, when did a judge become an 'Activist Judge' just because he makes a decision a group is unhappy with? But I'm not going to go there right now.)

My last comment on this subject for now is that one day people will look back upon our society and these decades as a time of intolerance where we actually used the tools of democracy to create discrimination and further hatred among groups of people. Shame on us, and for all those religious fanatics out there, I hope in the end you have to explain why you hated us so much.

So with that said, check out Prop107.com and if you live in the Great State of Arizona, please Vote NO on Proposition 107.

Fall Has Arrived
It's true, fall is finally upon us, and as I write this I'm sitting here at my desk almost drenched in sweat becuase I had the forethought to finally turn off the air-conditioning in the house and open a few of the windows. I guess maybe it's still a bit premature to turn off the air-conditioning in Arizona.

Photo from my Mother's Old House in Exton, Pennsylvania (2005)

Fortunatly for those of us in a place like Arizona, fall dosen't mean falling leaves, chilly days or winter coats. It means that we can finally start to turn off our A/C units, open the windows and enjoy the 80 degree days. It means that we can finally get out our favorite pair of jeans to wear outside without overheating. It also means that all the snowbirds will soon be on their way back to the valley to congest our freeways, grocery stores and restaurants. Oh the joys.

Don't get me wrong here I love the weather and I love being able to still go outside at night with a tank top on if I so desire. I do sometimes miss the fall that I grew up with in the east. The changing of the leaves, the brisk fall air, the smell of burning fireplaces and restocking your closets with an entirely separate wardrobe specifically for the season.

Photo from McGill University, Montreal Canada (2006)

Spending some time in Montreal in early October gave me a little fix of what I remembered fall to be like while growing up. Some days I really do miss the east coast, the fall, the winter and the first snow, but then there are those days when I watch the news and see that pretty much everything along the eastern seaboard has been shut down due to snow storms, and I look out my open window to a nice sunny day, blue sky and trees with leaves still hanging, and I think how much I love living in a warm climate. Happy fall everyone! Cheers.

Out On The Town With Mark
That's right the rumors are all true, Mark was back in town from San Francisco for a few days visit and ready to party hard.

Mark had called me on Sunday night to inform me that he was in town and we needed to hang out on Monday night. Monday night rolled around and following a short nap after work, Justin and I headed up to Amsterdam to meet up with Mark and friends for Manicure & Martini Mondays. The crowd was small but it sure was pretty. Mark was accompanied by friend Kat, and then joined by Mike who saw what a great time Mark & Kat were having and introduced himself.

Over the next few hours there certainly was no shortage of Martini's being placed in front of us. Compliments of Mark, we basked in the sweet temptations of Creme Brulee-tini's, Washington Apple-tini's, and Bananas Foster-tini's. They were all simply alcoholic orgasams in our mouths.

We laughed, danced and caught up with each other for a few hours.

Justin, Mark, Kat & Mike

Mark, Mike & Kat

Around midnight the crew decided they were a bit hungry so we headed up to the 5 & Diner for a quick bit to eat. Thank god it was Monday, because weekend service at 5 & Diner in nortoriously slow, but tonight it was very prompt. We finished our food and headed over to Charlie's for last call.

All I'm going to say about Charlie's on Monday nights is that it's underwear night. Now for whatever reason, it's always the people that shouldn't be in their underwear that are, and the people that should be in their underwear that aren't. Enough said. The music was fun and we stayed until around 2 AM before packing it in, saying goodbye and calling it a night.

It was great to spend some time again with Mark who's now back in San Francisco and enjoying every minute of it. We did get the hard sell as to when Justin and I are going to move back to San Francisco. Ah that's always the big question isn't it? I think for now we're happy in Phoenix and until it's feasible for us to have another house in San Francisco, we won't be moving back anytime soon.

So it was a fun night, we had a chance to meet a few new people and catch up with an old friend, and have some fabulous martini's. Hopefully this is a good start to a long week before we head out to Los Angeles this weekend. Cheers.

Who Loves You?
Have you ever given a serious thought about who really, truely cares about you? What about who would be the first person through your door to help you during a crisis?

I've actually given this some thought lately and I'm not exactly sure that I'm thrilled with the answers. I mean for me the answers to these questions would obviously be Justin and my Mother, but I'm talking about something a little deeper then just your significant other or your family.

I think this came to mind for me a few weeks ago after seeing an episode of ABC's Extreme Makover Home Edition. I just heard people on there talking about how the community came together for this family and how everyone knew each other and was there to help. I gave it some thought and I couldn't help to think that I don't even really know many people in my community. I'm not even sure what is my community, I mean it's certainly not the community where I live because I don't even know the neightbors behind me or across the street from me, let alone anyone who would offer to help me with anything. I guess for us our community would be our greater circle of friends first and then perhaps the gay community in general. I don't know. I have many acquaintences but only a select few who I know I could count on in the end.

It's something interesting to think about though don't you agree? It really gives you a little perspective as how many people you can rely on in life. Cheers.

Rich & Justin
Photos of us both from last night.

This weekend has gone by just too fast. I was just telling Justin last night that it feels like we work so much all week that by the time the weekend gets here it feels too short and flys by just too fast. I haven't always felt this way but over the last few months it seems like we spend so much of the weekend catching up on our sleep that we just don' t have time for much of anything else. I guess that's just life. I'm hoping that things change, work calms down a bit and we can start getting more rest during the week and having more time to enjoy things over the weekend. Cheers.

What Was Going Thru Berg's Mind?
Yes this is turning into the underwear blog. LOL. Ok not really but I figured I have to be an equal opportunity blogger and give my b/f some air-time here. Justin's been bitching to me lately that I haven't posted any sexy photos of him on my blog, so here you go Punkin! It's all you.

I actually thought this was a great photo, I just wonder what was going thru Berger's mind at this moment in time. If only he could talk. Hmmm, on second thought, it's probably good that he can't talk, imagine the scandalous stories he would reveal. :-)

Anywho, not too much going on with us tonight, I think we're just going to relax a bit at home and catch up on some Tivo'd programming. Cheers.

A Year Of Change For Everyone
This is probably something that I would normally post more towards the end of the year, but I was talking to a few of my friends recently and I've come to realize that 2006 has been a big year of change for almost everyone I know. Parents moving to town, people loosing weight, relationships ending, relationships starting, new jobs, all sorts of different changes for everyone. I can certainly relate because Justin and I have seen quite a few changes in our lives as well. From us becoming gym bunnies and loosing a ton of weight to my Mother moving out here, Justin's new job and our newly found adventures into the Circuit.

I don't know why this year seems to be the year of change. I mean don't get me wrong here, I know that change happens all the time, but it just seems to be more prevalent this year then I ever remember in the past. I think change is good and I think change really helps people feel alive. I believe that we sometimes need change in our lives to make things interesting. I know without a little change here and there I would get overly bored.

From my perspective my friends are all pretty happy with the way everything is going, and I know that Justin and I are extremely happy as well. We've all accomplished things this year we previously thought impossible.

As for me personally, I couldn't be more happy with my life at the moment. I feel amazing, I'm energetic, motivated and I really love how things are shaping up. I think I've really learned what it takes to make me happy this year. I don't seem to have has many down days as I used to have in the past, and when I do have a down day, I can pull myself out of it pretty quickly.

Anyway I'm glad to see that things are evolving and everyone in my life seems happy. I guess this is what life is about and I'm so happy to be able to experience it. Cheers.

So I Felt Like A Little Kid
Aren't those underwear just the cutest things ever? The guy in the photo trying them on is pretty damn hot too ... at least I think so :-P

I was modeling for Justin yesterday and thought this would make a cute photo so he got the camera out and took one for me. I think it came out pretty well. Have a great week everyone, Cheers!

Out with Matthew & Brian
This past weekend was an amazing weekend. I cannot get into details but trust me that spending a week in Montreal around so many hot boys makes you really pretty horny and this weekend finally gave Justin and I some much needed play time together.

Saturday night rolled around and we agreed that we needed to take a break from the sexfest and head out for some social activities. We gave Matthew and Len a call to see if they wanted to meet up with us at Amsterdam for drinks. Apparently they had just gotten back from Tucson pride and Len was exhausted but Matthew and his friend Brian, who was in town visiting from Boston, were both raring to go. I told Matthew that Justin and I could come back and pick them up so that Len could head to bed and get some rest.

We picked up Matthew and Brian and headed up to Amsterdam.

By the time we got to Amsterdam the crowd was thinning out quite a bit. I think we missed the prime-time rush and everyone was already headed up to Charlie's. We had a few drinks and then jumped back in the car to head over to Charlie's.

Once we got to Charlie's the crowd was jam packed. It seemed like everyone was just hanging out, talking and waiting for the music to flip at 1:45. As things turned over and people started dancing we headed out to the dance floor where we stayed until the lights came on at 4 AM. I believe that's the first time we've actually closed out Charlie's. I guess it's because Justin and I are still on our fucked up party schedule from Montreal.

Anyway we packed it up and headed back to drop off Matthew and Brian and then headed home. Another fun night in the Valley of the Sun. Cheers.

Montreal Black & Blue 2006
Well here it is, the big 'Montreal Black & Blue 2006' post. Once again I'm going to combine the entire Circuit Party trip into one big post with photos. Before I get into the details I better touch on this really quickly, Black & Blue is one of the PREMIER Circuit Party events around the world. People come to this event from all over the globe, and I'll be the first to tell you that it certainly lived up to it's reputation. For those of you who are still unfamiliar with the Circuit and Circuit Parties, according to Wikipedia:

A CIRCUIT PARTY IS a huge dance party, extending through a night and into the following day, almost always with a number of affiliated events in the days leading up to and following the main event. Circuit parties were first developed, in connection with the early tea dances and theme parties held on Fire Island, in the carefree days after police abuse and before the beginning of the health crisis. They came to resemble underground rave parties in some respects, but differ in that circuit parties are highly publicized and professionally produced, and tend to attract people from a wider age range and a broader geographic area. While open to anyone, the parties generally are viewed as social events for gay men. Circuit parties charge admission, with some being run for-profit and others benefiting charities, generally those which benefit the Gay Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender communities or HIV/health related programs. Attending more than one party per year, due to a variety of factors such as differing locations, can be rather expensive. Even the most dedicated party-goers don't attempt to run the whole "circuit" - there are simply too many parties to make this possible. Gay men who are regular attendees at multiple circuit parties are sometimes referred to as circuit boys.
Read More About Circuit Parties On Wikipedia

Woo Hoo! I guess by definition that officially makes us Circuit Boys. Now lets get to the story ...

Wednesday Arrival in Montreal:
After a long red-eye flight from Phoenix, and meeting up with Bernard during our connecting flights in Chicago, we finally arrived in Montreal around 9 AM on Wednesday morning. It was overcast, raining and not looking to be a very nice day. We caught a cab to our home for the week, the Delta Hotel on President Kennedy in downtown Montreal. Because we arrived a little early, the hotel wasn't going to have a room available for us until after 12 PM, so Justin, Bernard and I immediately checked our bags at the bell stand and headed up the street to scout out the downtown.

Around Noon our room was ready and we headed back to the hotel to check in, nap and shower before Philip was going to arrive around 10 PM. Our room was on the 19th floor and had a great view of the city as well as an interesting vantage point of the building project next door. It was a suite, so it had a full sitting area as well which gave us all more room to spread out and get comfortable during our 7 day vacation.

Thursday Around Montreal:
Tony arrived on a red-eye flight from San Diego on Thursday morning. After milling around the room for a bit, we headed out to grab a bite to eat, did some shopping in the underground city and then jumped on the Metro to head up to the Gay Village for some shopping. We started with a little underwear shopping at Priape where Bernard and Tony picked up a few pairs of assorted Ginch-Gonch briefs for the weekend. One we all got our underwear properly situated, we headed over to Cuir Northbound for some leatherwear shopping. Marc, the manager from Cuir Northbound, was very persistent about getting one or more of us naked that day. Let's just say he achieved his goal by getting Justin to not only try on, but also get a 'personal' fitting for a leather jock with built in cock-ring. Of course Justin just couldn't resist the COCK-ring, so he ended up buying the jock. I think I've created a monster. Philip and Bernard also ditched their shirts and tried on a few things, however I just couldn't convince Tony to try out the Pony tail. Oh well maybe next time. We finished up our shopping and then headed over to Mado for a few drinks in preparation for the evenings festivities.

Thursday The Jock Party:
Thursday night was the first official party of the week, the Jock Party. As you might have guessed from the name and photos below it was a jock attire themed party. Around 10 PM we headed up to Parking for the Pre-Party and then around 1 AM we headed over to Stereo where the official party was taking place. Unfortunately we were not permitted to take cameras into any of these venues so most of the photos are before and after photos of the group.

Friday Around Montreal:
We stayed at the Jock party until around 4 AM when we headed back to the hotel. We crashed for a few hours and then headed out for some food and to trek around the city a little bit. I managed to catch the Round-Trip Ticket travel show on Logo which said that the best views of the city could be had from hiking up Parc du Mount-Royal to the Cross and looking out over the city from the top, so that we did. Philip being the ever consummate tourist, had an entire stack of printed maps and walking tours for Montreal so he knew right were to go. We headed up through McGill University to the park and then started our ascent up the hill and the steep stairs to the overlook. Once we got to the top the views were amazing. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful fall day in Montreal.

After taking some photos of us all from the overlook we headed around to the path that lead down the back side of the cross. We actually almost headed back down the way we came and would have missed the entire out side of the city (thanks Philip!). Once we took this back path we headed down into the woods a bit until we reached a clearing where you could look out over the whole north-east side of Montreal. In the first photo below you can clearly see the Montreal Olympic Stadium in the background, which was going to be our Sunday destination spot for the main event, the Black & Blue 2006 Supersonic Party.

We hiked down the park and then decided in reward for our ambitious day of being out of the hotel and trekking around Montreal we would stop at a local bakery and pick up some confectionaries, brie, salami, pate, and a sliced baguette for us to snack on back in the room before getting ready for the Leather Party. That's the one thing I miss about being in a city like Montreal ... access to wonderful small bakeries overflowing with fresh baked goods, quaint trendy restaurants, and small boutique clothing stores. I guess this is the reason why I enjoy traveling so much, to experience culture, other people, and the things I'm missing here in Phoenix.

Friday The Leather Party:
The main event of the night was the leather party. We snapped a quick fully clothed, pre-departure photo before heading over to Parking for the pre-leather party. Parking was crowded with so many leather clad studs, and within minutes of arriving, Junior Vasquez took the DJ booth, spun up some really hot beats and got the crowd cheering and dancing in a way which would set the mood for the rest of the evening. Around 1 AM we headed over to Club Medley for the main event, the Black & Blue Leather Party. We arrived, check our clothes and proceeded into the club in our leather gear. It was packed with old, young, short, and tall ... men of all types. David Knapp was spinning the main event and he took us on a journey for the rest of the night. While I like Kevin Aviance, I wasn't all that thrilled with his performance. It went on just too long and sort of brought everyone down a bit from their previous dance high. We danced with, watched and even touched a few of the hot leather boys until finally grabbing our clothes at 6 AM and heading back to the hotel. Once we got to the hotel we decided that since we hadn't had any photos of us in our leather gear that we should take a photo shoot. Let's just say the photo shoot went a little crazy and at the request (begging) of my friends, the photos posted below are pretty much the only decent ones that I was allowed to post. The rest, well you'll just have to use your imagination.

Saturday Around Montreal:
Bernard, Tony and I got up on Sunday morning and headed over to the Village for brunch at the Saloon. The food was good and the restaurant was packed with people while a live DJ spun some fresh beats at the bar. Immediately following brunch we headed back to the hotel to pick up Justin and Philip who we left there to get a few extra winks of sleep. Once everyone was ready we hopped on the Metro and headed back up the 3 stops from the hotel to the Gay Village to do a little more shopping. After finishing up shopping we decided to stop at the Sky Bar and grab ourselves a few drinks and get pumped up before heading out to what was promised to be one of the more memorable parties of the weekend, the Military Party.

Saturday The Military Party:
There was so much hype all week surrounding the Military Party that we couldn't wait to slip on our camo's and head out to the party. The event was held at Metropolis which was a converted theatre / opera house. We arrived around 12 AM and there were quite a few people in there by the time we got through security and up to the main floor. Manny Lehman was the featured DJ of the night, and once again he did not disappoint. Playing some of his featured songs like 'Someone to Hold' by Veronica and some new songs like Rosabel's mix of 'I Feel For You' by John Kano feat. Gia 7' We also met a few new friends and danced our asses off until around 6 AM before grabbing our misplaced clothing and heading back to the hotel for a little bit of shut-eye before Sunday's main event, Supersonic at the Montreal Olympic Stadium.

Sunday Dinner in the Village:
We got a few hours of sleep before getting up, getting ready and heading back up to the village for dinner and some drinks. Last night at the military we met a really cute, sweet and well mannered Irish lad, Rob, who was in town for Black & Blue. Apparently Rob decided to stop off in Canada for Black & Blue on his was back to London from his past work assignment in Sydney. He was staying alone at the hotel so we decided to invite him out on Sunday to hang and get to know all of us. We jumped on the metro and headed over to Le Planete in the Village for dinner. The food was good but the conversation was better. It's always so much fun to meet and get to know new people and fellow circuit partiers. I think the best part of dinner was the cute bartender that kept coming over to our table. He was so cute and became immediately flustered when I asked if I could take his photo. It was funny because after the photo, he could barely look at me and kept blushing every time I said something to him. I loved every minute of it.

Following dinner we headed over to the Sky Bar / Sky Lounge for the Official Pre-Supersonic T-Dance for a few drinks and some motivation. The music was new, loud and hopping while the beer was going down oh so well. After a few pitchers of beer, some photos and dancing we jumped back on the Metro to head back to the hotel to get ready for the main event, Supersonic at the Montreal Olympic Stadium.

Sunday Supersonic at the Olympic Stadium:
The photo below was of all of us before we headed out to the Montreal Olympic Stadium. The party started at 10 and would go on until Monday at noon. We jumped back on the Metro around 11 and took it all the way up to the stadium to begin one hell of a long evening of non-stop dancing.

My only disappointment of the weekend was that we didn't even try to sneak a camera into the main event because Supersonic was completely FUCKING off the hook. I actually had low expectation going into this event because we were told that it was 80/20 percent straight/gay crowd. This couldn't have been further from the truth, if anything it was a very much 50/50 mixed crowd, and the best part of it was that it wasn't your typical mixed crowd, no one really gave a shit about straight/gay, everyone just wanted to be there, have fun and dance. Thank god for the Canadians and their open mindedness. I so want to move there now. LOL.

From the moment of walking into the Montreal Olympic Stadium it was clear to see why this party was one of the circuit favorites. There was seriously a damn airplane in the middle of the stadium with dancers on a stage that went completely around the front of the plane. There were 8 towers that were a minimum of 5-6 stories tall with motion club lights all over them sending your eyes into a frenzy as the multi-colored lights swept in music-coordinated motions across the 10,000 plus people dancing in the middle of the stadium. The sound system shook the stadium and everyone was half naked, laughing, dancing and just having an amazing time. Remember that scene in the Matrix II when all those people were in the cave dancing before the battle. Well that's about how it felt, raw, emotional and completely tribal. We danced through the beats of Charles Poulin, Antoine Clamaran, Chus and Ceballos, and ended with Mark Anthony. The DJ's were all pretty good, but Antoine Clamaran and Mark Anthony were completely brilliant. They both really knew how to work the crowd.

We were dancing next to young, old, straight, gay and everything in the middle. There were so many hot guys with incredible bodies that everywhere you turned it was like candy to the eyes. We went for a non-stop bone crushing 10 hours of dancing before calling it quits around 10 AM and heading back to the hotel to get a few hours of rest before one last party of the week. I immediately crashed out dead cold as soon as I hit the bed.

Monday Recovery Party:
We all woke up around 6 PM and got ready so we could go to dinner and catch the final event of the weekend, the recovery party. The photo below was the last photo of the weekend.

As you can tell we're all a bit tired and run-down. Everyone we talked to said that the Recovery Party was a definite do-not-miss party. We headed back up to the Village to have dinner at the Saloon and then headed over to Parking to catch the end of the Recovery Party Part I. The tragic part of that was that there were still some queens on the dance floor that we saw that went directly from 12 hours at the Montreal Olympic Stadium over to Parking for the Part I. They were so strung out that they didn't even bother to go home, shower or sleep. Silly Circuit queens. The music was good but we were tired. It was hard to get into the groove again. Bernard decided that he was tired, and his body was sore so he said goodnight and decided to head back to the hotel to get some rest. After a few drinks the remaining 4 of us started to get a groove on and decided at 12 AM it was time to head over to Stereo for the official Recovery Party with Victor Calderone. We got there and it was PACKED. Victor always draws a big crowd with his unique tribal beats. He knows how to work the dance floor and take everyone through a unique journey of music. I must say that I've seen Victor Calderone spin twice before in San Francisco, and while I've always been a big fan of his, this was my absolute favorite performance. He got the boys going so much that people were cheering, dancing and working themselves into a total sweat in the packed crowd. It was so raw and hot, I loved it. I would look up as the spotlight was turned on above Victor and he was grooving himself as he brought the music to an amazing high which just drove everyone over the edge. He must have been having an awesome time watching everyone go crazy on the dance floor. I think these DJ's have the best jobs in the world, but I'll save that for another post.

We had originally planned on only staying there for an hour or so, just enough time to hear Victor spin and take in the last night of the party. Well at 6 AM we looked at our watches and decided we needed to get the hell out of there so that we could sleep for two hours before having to get up, pack, check out and head to the airport. It was a crazy night. The crowd was HOT HOT HOT and we didn't want to leave. It was the perfect ending to an amazing 7 days in Montreal.

Tuesday Heading Home:
We did manage to get a few hours of sleep before heading out. It was sad to say goodbye to everyone including both old and new friends. It was sad parting ways with the gang at the Montreal airport. It's always so much fun when we all get together and travel. We're really coming into our own these days and learning how well we get along together. Once again the five of us grew a bit, and learned so much more about each other. I really feel, as it does every party, that our bond together grew even stronger. We also had a chance to hang out with Bruce and Tracy who were just a few rooms down the hall, and meet some of there friends as well.. Going to these parties offers a unique experience and perspective as a gay man, and I wouldn't give that experience up for anything.

When I first left Montreal I had mixed emotions about the whole week, but looking back now, I had an absolutely amazing time at Black & Blue. I loved spending the week with my friends, I loved the parties, and I loved the city and people of Montreal. Canada is such an amazing place and the Canadians are so damn nice. I really mean that. There's nothing like walking down the street in a new country, with a different first language and having strangers on the street smile and say hello to you. The people in Montreal were great, so very accommodating to us all, and the week was just one good time after another.

I left Black & Blue 2006 with so many new memories and an even stronger desire to continue down this path we began earlier this year. I don't think Black & Blue is an event that will be a must-go for me every year, but it's definitely something I'm glad I did and probably something I'll do again in a few years. I think over the next several years we're going to try and branch out and try new and different parties all over the world. It's a chance for us to travel, meet new people and see what we like. Once we figure that out, we can then start going back to our favorites. I'm looking forward to the next several years with Justin, my friends and our status as full-fledged Circuit Boys. Cheers!

Sprint Sucks!
That's all I'm going to say. I've had Sprint for 6 years now and haven't had any major complaints about them until recently. The latest bitch ... The fact that I'm receiving a text message Justin sent me yesterday about every 30 seconds. That's right, the same text message, the same time stamp, the same everything ... one every 30 seconds. I had to turn the alerts off on my phone because I can't have my phone beeping all night long. The best part of this is that the same thing happend to Justin last night, but it fixed itself this morning and stopped.

As for me, well I've been on the phone with 5 different Sprint customer service and tech support agents, all of whom couldn't help me. After a soft reset, a hard reset and an text messaging reset they finally figured out they didn't know how to fix it and opened a support ticket for which someone is supposed to get back to me sometime within the next 51 hours or so. That's really fucking nice. Nice customer service they have, and in the meantime I have to fucking deal with duplicate text messages coming to my phone every 30 seconds.

This is going to be a great week, I can just tell already. Hopefull they figure this shit out and can get it fixed before I'm forced to cancel my plan and take my number and my business to another carrier. Sprint, you're really pushing my last nerve with this one. Get your shit together or your going to loose even more business.

2006-10-13 UPDATE: Finally this afternoon something was fixed with my text messaging and after several hundred (1/2) text messages I finally received the jammed (2/2) text message and all the rest of my queued text messages started rolling in. I'm very disappointed about the way that Sprint handled this entire issue. If it wasn't for the fact that we just spent $1500 on new phones specifically for use with Sprint only (Palm Treo 700wx) I would have considered dropping them. Anyway it's fixed and I'm happy now.

Home from Montreal Black & Blue 2006
Yes the rumors are true we're back in town. I tried to post an entry while I was there and the photos didn't upload correctly so I just gave up knowing I'd fill everyone in once I was back in town.

It was an absolutely amazing trip, and Montreal is an incredible city filled with beautiful people, quaint restaurants and endless stores in which to shop.

From the minute we set foot off the plane it was non-stop. We trekked from Downtown to the Gay Village to the Olympic Stadium doing shopping, drinking, more shopping, partying and dancing.

I just wanted to post a quick update. I have a ton to write about and a bunch of photos to upload but for now I'm tired and I need to get some rest because work is going to come early tomorrow. Cheers!

This Is It ... Montreal Black & Blue 2006
Well kids this is it ... only 1 day until we leave for Montreal to attend Black & Blue 2006. I can't even begin to tell you how excited we all are to be going. I'm ready to let loose, relax, hang with my friends and party it up for 7 days straight.

I did find out however that they are not allowing cameras into the man event at the Olympic Stadium which I'm really ... REALLY bummed about. But hopefully I'll be able to take some great shots at some of the other parties and while touring around Montreal. Justin and I leave tomorrow night on a red-eye out, and my newly resident Mother will be hanging out at our house with little Berger for the week. So with that said I hope to have some great photos to post. I will have internet access in the hotel, so I may post a blog entry or two if I have time. Wish us luck!

Sunday Afternoon Cocktails
So Justin and I met up with Matthew and Len, who just moved to Phoenix from D.C., for lunch on Sunday and then headed up to Roscoe's on 7th with them for a few afternoon drinks. We stayed at Roscoe's for a few beers, but the crowd was pretty lame so we decided to head over to Charlie's and see if it was any better.

It was indeed much better at Charlie's. While the crowd was a little strange we did run into Chadly, Chris Brandon from Boy's Briefs and Darin, who consequently was a mess. ;-)

Matthew got a kick out of the fact that they actually served beer in mini-pitchers at Charlie's. He decided that he just had to have one and reminisce about his days in college.

Anyway we don't usually go out on Sunday afternoon's but I have to say that we had a really good time hanging out with Len and Matthew. It was a beautiful day and a nice way to wind down the weekend.

Dinner At Corbin's in Phoenix With Bernard & Jeff
Bernard was in town this weekend to spend some time with his new beau Jeff, who I might add we really like. So we met up with Bernard, Jeff & Jeff's son Brandon for dinner at Corbin's Bar & Grill in North Phoenix off of Central & Dunlap. I love that place, they have great food & drinks.

This was our first time meeting Jeff and he's a really sweet guy. Bernard and Jeff seem like they get along really well together and as long as Bernard is happy then we're happy for him.
