Stop The Bus, I Want Off!

Ever get the feeling your life is moving faster then you are? If I can say one thing, the past few months have not been dull at all. While many people sit around wondering what to do to make their lives more interesting, I find myself contemplating what it's going to take to slow my life down just a bit.

Sometime in October, I was picked up by the party bus on the way to our Atlantis Mexican Cruise, and haven't been able to get off since. It's been one weekend after the next of non-stop adventure. You know when you turn to your friends and say "No one would believe this sort of thing actually happens even if we told them ...", you're living quite an interesting life. It's funny because somewhere along the line I used to believe this was the life I wanted, the life I could only dream about having, and now that I find myself living the dream I can only ask "Is this it? Is this what it's all about? Is this all there is?"

Don't get me wrong, I've been having the absolute time of my life, but I wonder if living this life comes with a cost. In December I attended the funeral of a friend who's life was cut way too short inevitably by the lifestyle choices he made. I've watched as other friends, who always believed they could handle this life, have spun out of control. All of this has made me think that things are getting very close to being out of hand and that we might be venturing a little too far down the rabbit hole for my comfort. A concern I've not only concluded for myself but also one that's been expressed to me by some of my less adventurous friends.
While we've been meeting new people, experiencing new things, and enjoying this new found adventure, I've been thinking it might be time to stop the party bus, get off for a while, and get back to a more normal life.
Oh hell, who am I kidding, I don't do normal and having a 'normal' life as compared to the standards of others would bore me out of my mind. The White Party Palm Springs is coming up here quickly in April and we all know that brings about the start of the 2008 party season which will take us through next October. I guess the reality is that there really is no getting off the bus. Once you're on, you're on, and that's it. Sit down, buckle up, enjoy the ride and "Drink your juice Shelby!" Back From Los Angeles ... Happy New Year
|
Yes the rumors are true I'm back from our New Year's celebration in Los Angeles and have been laying low trying to recover from the party which technically started in October and finally came to an end last week.
All I'm going to say is that we had a wild and crazy time in Los Angeles. The first party at the Avalon with DJ Manny Lehman was quite fun, the main party at the Mayan with DJ Ralph Rosario was completely off the hook, and the afterhours at the Hollywood Arena was probably the sketchiest group of people that I've ever seen at a party. It was another experience to chalk under the belt.
