Trade Superheroes Party At Burn On November 10th
|
It was Burn Nightclub's one year anniversary and the night of the Trade 'Superheroes' Party with DJ Alexander and Flava. It was one of the reason's the gang was in Phoenix, and a party Justin and I have been looking forward too since it's announcement at the last Trade Party back in August.
Justin, Antonio and I decided to go all out and dress up for the event.
Antonio (Superboy), Justin (Green Arrow), Rich (Batman)
Jeremiah (Riddick), Jerry, Philip & Bernard

The party was a huge hit. We arrived shortly after midnight and the club was already packed. We met up with our friend Gracie who was there with the headliner DJ Alexander and a few of their other friends from San Diego.
If you haven't seen him yet, DJ Alexander is amazing live and certainly doesn't let the crowd down. This was our third time hearing him spin, with the first being at the Tribe Boiler Room Party during Long Beach Pride and the second at Rich's in San Diego. We enjoyed the music and partied all night long with our friends. Around 1AM Flava came on stage and performed for two songs. Having seen Flava perform at almost all the recent circuit parties we've been too, it was slightly surreal to have this performance being in Phoenix.

We ran into several old and new friends and the night just flew boy too fast. It was great to spend the evening in Phoenix with my Crew and turned out to be a total blast.. This party was most definitely a great way to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Burn Nightclub. Saturday Night Out with Justin, Antonio & The Jerry's
|
We looked at Justin's schedule and he had to work early on Friday morning, so we both agreed early in the week that we would just stay home, take the weekend off from everything, detox a bit, and just hang out. As is usually the case, that didn't last long. Because Justin did work on Saturday morning, he went to bed early on Friday night and I sat in front of the TV for a bit before falling asleep on the couch. After Justin got home on Saturday we did some cleanup around the house and I finally let him know there is no way in hell I'm staying home on a Saturday night.
I quickly grabbed the phone, called my friends and soon enough, Justin and I were headed out on the town with Jerry, Jeremiah & Antonio.
Rich, Antonio & Justin at Ticoz over dinner
Antonio, Justin and I headed over to Jerry's where we picked up the two Jerry's (Jerry & Jeremiah). and then headed to Ticoz on 7th & Camelback to start our evening with dinner & drinks. The same people that own FEZ and Switch Bakery also own Ticoz. We've been there several times before and I really enjoy the food and the atmosphere. After finishing up with dinner we headed down to Burn Nightclub for a typical Saturday night of dancing.
The Boys in Black: Justin, Jerry & Jeremiah at Burn
Justin & Rich at Burn. Isn't Justin's shirt the cutest.
Justin wasn't feeling too great after dinner, so he mostly stood off to the side and Jeremiah had to work early, so he didn't stick around at Burn for too long before heading home. As for Jerry, Antonio and I, well we had a great time. All I know is that I was dancing my ass off all night. Burn never really did get that busy which is sad, because the music was pretty damn good, but none the less I met a bunch of people and it didn't stop me from having a good time.
As Burn wound down for the night, Justin, Jerry, Antonio, Antonio's good friend Ron and I jumped into a cab out front around 2 AM and headed up to Charlie's for some after-hours dancing. The cab driver tried to throw in a extra charge and had an accent so thick no one could understand him. The highlight of the cab right was that at one point the driver was still trying to talk to us and Antonio looked at him and said "I'm sorry I can't understand anything you're saying right now ... but can you pull over because I'm going to throw up" The driver quickly pulled over and sure enough, Antonio jumped out and lost it. I think the driver was horrified at the fact that after just a minute, Antonio actually got back in the cab again. Antonio looked at the driver and said "Don't worry I didn't throw up on your cab!" Once again the driver started saying something we couldn't understand, but none the less he proceeded on his way and we all arrived at Charlie's in one piece without anyone else getting sick.
Wow, what happened to our shirts? Rich, Antonio & Justin at Charlies
Rich, Jerry & Antonio at Charlie's
We ran into Joel and his crew at Charlie's as well as this cute boy named Junior from Miami, who we actually met in New York in line for Stereo. I did know that Junior was dating someone from Scottsdale, I just didn't know it was one of the guys in Joel's entourage. It's such a small world. Once again we danced our asses off before the dance floor cleared out around 3:30 AM.
Justin, Jerry, Antonio and I left Charlie's and headed over to a private after-hours party just up the street with some friends. The party was actually winding down when we got there, so we made our appearance, and quickly decided to call it a night.
What started out to be a quiet weekend, turned into yet another fun filled Saturday night in Phoenix. Cheers!Labels: Burn Nightclub Phoenix, Gay Life, Gay Restaurants, Jeremiah, Jerry Timms, Justin Chanley

Adventure In San Diego
|
While in San Diego, Justin and I had a bit of an interesting adventure. We met someone at the Zoo Party, who I will refer to as Boy#1 who, aside from our friends, was probably one of the most outgoing and uncomplicatedly fun people we've met in a very long time.
Justin and I arrived at the Zoo Party around 5 PM with our entire group of friends, but with the exception of Justin, Philip, Jerry and me, the rest of our friends decided to head out of the party to walk around the Zoo itself which was included as part of our Zoo Party ticket. The four of us decided to stay at the party and dance. Now remember, the Zoo Party is actually located inside the San Diego Zoo, runs from 4PM until 11PM and it’s held entirely outdoors in a private space complete with multiple bars and a huge dance area.
It was only about 15 minutes after we arrived at the Zoo Party when Justin and I were approached by Boy#1. Philip and Jerry who were walking through the crowd with us, waved to us and headed to the dance area as we stopped to chat. The reason Boy#1 came up to us was because he was wearing the exact same sneakers as Justin, so it was a good way for him to break the ice and introduce himself. He said he and his friends saw us when we came in and they all thought we were cute. He was initially interested in Justin, but when he found out right away that we were a couple he said we were both hot and jokingly asked if we were looking for a 3rd. Justin and I laughed because we had met a 3-way couple just the night before and were talking about how interesting it would be to have a 3rd.
Boy#1 was 27, intense with a huge smile, a single small tattoo on his arm, a smooth body, blue eyes and blonde spiky hair. Justin and I both thought Boy#1 was super-cute so we asked him if he wanted to hang out with us, and without hesitation Boy#1 said yes, put his arms around us and said “We’re going to have a great time tonight!” After only a few minutes of talking, Boy#1 leaned in and kissed me, then leaned over and kissed Justin and then smiled at us both and said "You two are so cute." Justin and I just looked at each other and grinned.
Justin and I grabbed Boy#1 and headed out to the middle of the dance area to find our friends and do some dancing. We finally found Jerry and Philip and introduced our new friend to them. Now Jerry and Philip are both single at the moment and as it may be, the conversation came up earlier that weekend regarding how it seemed as if they couldn’t meet any single guys and that it seemed like the couples at the parties were the ones who seem to be cruising the hardest for other boys. So as you can imagine, when they saw us with Boy#1 they both just shook their heads and smirked. One of them turned to us and immediately said “you guy’s seriously don’t waste any time do you?" I think they realized Justin and I were lost for the night and they were on their own for the rest of the party. I do have to give my group of friends some kudos because we're all aware that each of us is there for a different reason and we allow everyone in our group the freedom to do what they want and either hang with or stray from the group as desired. It works out well for everyone.
Before long Justin, Boy#1 and I were shirtless and all over each other in the middle of the dance area. Boy#1 was sandwiched in the middle between Justin and I, turning every so often like a rotisserie chicken, so as to switch which one of us he was kissing. It was absolutely crazy and a few people started to stare. At one point another guy came over to us; put his arms around the 3 of us and started touching and kissing us as well. We were in the middle of the dance area, which was by then packed with other guys, and before we knew it everyone nearby had pretty much just circled around us and started watching the 4 of us kiss, touch, dance and grind with each other. I remember looking around at the guys near us for just a second to see them watching but at the moment we were all in our own little world. The 4th guy who joined in started pouring water on himself and eventually on the rest of us which just caused more of a spectacle to everyone as we were all dancing there in the sun dripping with water and licking it off each other. Inevitably the four of us had our hands all over and down each other’s pants with the onlookers all trying to catch a glimpse of what was going on. I really think most of the crowd was actually trying to figure out who was with whom. Frankly, it was all really surreal but yet very intensely sensual and hot.
The 4th guy only hung out with us for a while before he eventually broke off. Justin, Boy#1 and I spent the rest of the party together dancing, kissing, touching, licking, laughing, and just having an interesting time. About mid-way through the party, Boy#1 said to us both that he really wanted to spend the rest of the night with us and then came right out and asked "So am I going to get Lucky tonight or what?" Justin and I just looked at him and smirked. I said "Is that what you want?" He looked at me and said "Yes" so I replied “Of course you are if that’s what you want!” He said “Good!” and the 3 of us continued grinding and dancing. Like a shared play toy, Justin and both took turns with our arms around him, kissing him and dancing with him while also taking the time to kiss each other and sometimes even taking a break to talk to our friends who were taking turns standing next to us and watching us in dismay at the fact that we were completely oblivious to them and the rest of the party.
The Zoo Party ended around 11 PM and we were all headed downtown to the closing party, with a quick stop first to Tony's for a change of clothes. Bernard, Jerry, Philip, Justin, Boy#1 and I who made our way over to Tony’s were joined by another of our friends, Jeremiah, who had just arrived in San Diego from Phoenix for that evening’s party. We made a quick change, grabbed our necessities and Tony, DJ and Mike, who were not going to the party because of work in the morning, were nice enough to shuttle the rest of us together over to the closing party at 4th & B.
The closing party was a blast because first and foremost the music was being spun by Rosabel, the pair of DJ Abel and DJ Ralph Rosario, our favorite after hour DJ's, and secondly because there were so many people that we knew in attendance. As usual, the space was very hot; everyone was shirtless, steaming and sweaty. I asked Boy#1 if he was going to take us home with him to which he said "Do you want too?" Of course I said "Yes!" He said "I really want to go back with you guys now but we just got here so I guess I'll just have to wait." I smiled and said "We'll have fun after the party". Once again he said "Good!" and we continued dancing.
The three of were dancing together with the rest of our friends before Justin, Boy#1 and I made our way upstairs to the balcony overlooking the dance floor for a break. We hung out upstairs for a while, then back down to the dance floor, and then even spent a little time drooling over one of the hot professional dancers for a bit. The night seemed to be going by so quickly.
In the early morning, we then ran into someone who I’ll call TallGuy#1, because he's tall, very handsome and has an amazing body, who Justin and I had met at the White Party back in April. He was dancing in the middle of the dance floor and waved to us. Before long Justin, Boy#1 and I were now touching and kissing TallGuy#1. After a little dancing, Boy#1 started to get a little overheated so he and Justin headed off together to the back of the club to take a break for a bit while TallGuy#1 and I stayed on the dance floor to dance and chat some more. Before long I too was off to the side of the dance floor with TallGuy#1 where we continued touching, kissing and chatting about the situation.
After some time had elapsed, the four of us all met up again on the dance floor. Inevitably, one thing led to another and before long we said goodbye to our friends and the 4 of us were leaving the party to head back to Boy#1's hotel room. It was about 7AM and we took a cab to the hotel which was fairly close to the closing party location. Once up in the room Boy#1 realized his friend, who he was staying with, was back in the room sleeping. He had originally thought his friend was staying with someone else so he thought nothing us all going back to his room. We asked Boy#1 what he wanted to do and he said it was cool that it didn't matter so the four of us proceeded to shuck all our clothes and jump into the other bed. After about 15 minutes Boy#1's friend awoke to look over and see the naked mass of guys and said "Are you f**king kidding me! Boy#1, you did not bring back 5 people to the room, you are ridiculous!" We all sort of laughed mainly because of his incorrect calculation of the total number of bodies, but quickly decided it would be best to get dressed and go somewhere with a little more privacy.
We headed downstairs, got another cab and headed over to where TallGuy#1 was staying for the weekend, since he knew his friend was now on his way to work. We arrived at the apartment, grabbed and drink and you can probably guess what happened from there. With the 4 of us spending the rest of the morning together in bed, I'll just leave the intimate details to your imagination.
It was around noon when Justin and I finally ended up back at Tony's house, where we were staying. Justin and I still can't believe what happened. What a crazy, but amazingly fun adventure in San Diego.

AZ88 & Burn Nightclub
|
After Mark & Andrea rode over on Saturday afternoon on their bikes we decided that it would be an appropriate evening to head out for dinner and then over to Burn Nightclub for a little after-dinner drinks and dancing.
Andrea, Mark, Justin and I headed up to Scottsdale around 8 where we met up with Jerry Timms, Jeremiah and Jeremiah's friends Darren, & Phedra for dinner at AZ88.

It's no surprise that AZ88 is one of my favorite places to go for a bite to eat. I've been going there since I first moved to Arizona in 1994 so aside from that fact that it has the best buffalo chicken sandwich in Phoenix, it also holds a bit of sentimental meaning for me as well. As for Jerry, it's not really one of his favorite places, but he agreed to join us anyway. I guess we're just good company, what can I say.
Following what was a delicious dinner for me, and bit of a lackluster one for Jerry, we headed over to Central Phoenix for a little dancing at Burn Nightclub.

This was Mark & Andrea's first visit to Burn Nightclub and they were very impressed. They both had a blast and immediately recognized that the crowd at Burn was not your ordinary Phoenix crowd. We danced, drank, laughed and had a great Saturday night spent with friends.Labels: AZ88, Burn Nightclub Phoenix, Jeremiah, Jerry Timms, Justin Chanley, Our Home, Phoenix

A Night Out with Friends
|
Justin and I headed up to Jerry's around 9 to meet up with him and Jeremiah for dinner. We chose Fate, which is a small trendy Asian restaurant located in the heart of the Art District off of 4th Street and Roosevelt in Downtown Phoenix.

Dinner was very good. Fate is a unique place with only a few tables but an amazing menu and a live DJ spinning from the 2nd floor. If you live in Phoenix and have never been to Fate, I would highly recommend it.
After a wonderful bottle of Big Tattoo Red wine, apparently a favorite of Jeremiah, some music, conversation, and a sampling of some delicious appetizers and tasty Asian fare we paid the bill and headed out. Jerry, Justin and I had decided to head over to the Burn Nightclub while Jeremiah was off to do some house sitting.
Burn started off pretty dead. I think we arrived around 11 and there were maybe only a 100 people in the whole place. Surprisingly and very quickly the place filled up and by midnight the dance floor was packed.

The bartenders and cocktail waiters at Burn dance around the bar completely shirtless, and most are pretty damn hot. Having a gaggle of hot bartenders certainly does make the wait at the bar a bit more entertaining.

We took a break from dancing to pose for little photo shoot. I used to wonder what other people were thinking when someone whipped out a camera and started taking photos, but with increased availability and popularity of small digital cameras, I've noticed more these days that so many others are doing the same.

After a few drinks we ran into Jerry's extremely cute next door neighbor Phillip, also from the gayborhood, who was out and about with his friend Ian.

After several drinks, some socializing and dancing the night was over. The lights came on and we were ushered promptly out of the building at exactly 2:01 AM. Jerry, Justin and I headed out to the car and grabbed Philip and Ian, who were waiting for a cab, to give them a ride back as well. We all packed in the Highlander and headed back to the gayborhood.

We dropped Philip and Ian off and then Jerry, Justin and I took a stroll up the street to take a peek at two houses that are for sale on Jerry's street. He's been ever so slightly hinting that we need to get with the times and move ourselves over the the gayborhood. We'll see.
Once back at Jerry's place Justin passed out on the couch while Jerry showed me some of the more interesting architectural details of his 1940's built house, including some of the changes he's made in the back yard. After hanging out for a little bit the three of us decided we were hungry, so we jumped back in the car and headed up to the Gay Dennys (dubbed Gennys by the locals) on 7th and Camelback for a quick bite to eat. I guess everyone from Burn had the same idea because we noticed several familiar faces from the club sitting around enjoying their post-club eating binge.
Following breakfast we dropped Jerry off back at the governors mansion and headed home. It was a really fun night and I'm so glad that after knowing Jerry for about 8 years now, we've been able to finally reconnect and hang out again. He's a great friend and we always have fun together. Cheers.Labels: Burn Nightclub Phoenix, Jeremiah, Jerry Timms, Justin Chanley, Phoenix

Out with Jerry & Jerry
|
Last night Justin and I headed up to Z'Tejas at the Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall to meet up with Jerry and Jeremiah for a small happy hour with Move Marketing and it's owner Anthony. It was a nice small gathering with an absolutely horrid waitress. She was seriously the worst ever and it took Justin and I nearly 30 minutes to get her to bring us a drink. Aside from the waitress, it was great to see Anthony again and spend some time talking with him. He's a really down to earth guy with some amazing ideas.
Following a few drinks at Z'Tejas Jerry, Jeremiah, Justin and I headed back to Jerry's house to consolidate cars and pick up a few Proton Pump Inhibitors (Prilosec) for our heartburn before heading out to Ticoz to grab a quick bite to eat. Now Justin and I were introduced to Ticoz by Mike & Jonathan on their last trip and it's quite an interesting place. Just north from the corner of 7th Street and Camelback in Phoenix, it's a trendy little restaurant with very tasty menu. Although the place is almost entirely decorated with items from Ikea, and all the food is extremely over garnished, it has a nice atmosphere, great drinks and the food is actually very good. We had a few cocktails and some dinner before continuing our evening and heading down to Amsterdam.
Walking from the street into Amsterdam was almost painful because it's ridiculously cold here right now. I know many of you might laugh because in comparison to many other places in the world, Phoenix is far from cold, however after a full day of rain yesterday it was a damp 38 degrees outside, and that's pretty damn cold for us here. Thank god for the outside space heaters to warm us all up on the patio before entering the building. One certainly does not want to look all cold, and flush before walking into a bar filled with hot people. LOL.
Once inside Amsterdam we met up with Keith & Anthony (The P.B.Loco Boy's), Anthony's sister Lynda, who was sporting a fabulous new dark hair color, as well as Little Keith and Brad. Of course at the moment I found them, Anthony and Lynda were screaming obscenities at Noah, the Amsterdam bar manager, for giving them soda water instead of 7-Up in their drinks. Kieth finally had to go over and resolve the situation before they all got thrown out. We also ran into Lance & Kevin who were there with other friends having some drinks. I introduced all unfamiliar parties and we all claimed space at the back of the bar just far enough away from the back door to remain somewhat warm.
After a few drinks, a conversation about what makes an establishment a club, and many laughs, we finally ended up leaving around 1:30 to drop Jerry and Jeremiah off at Jerry's house before heading home. Justin and I both really enjoyed the night spent with Jerry & Jeremiah, it was a fun evening and a nice way to end a long week. I don't have any photos because if you can imagine I actually forgot my camera. Oh well next time. Cheers.Labels: Gay Bars, Gay Restaurants, Jeremiah, Jerry Timms, P.B.Loco, Penn State, Phoenix
