Two Movies in One Night ... Ocean's 13 & Transformers
|
While I've sat at home and watched several movies in a row before, I've never actually gone to the movies two times in one day let alone two times in one night, so this was an interesting experience for me.

Since we like to take my Mother out once and a while and do something with her, Justin and I invited her to go and see Ocean's 13 on Monday night. It wouldn't have been our first choice to see, but we knew it was something she would enjoy and wanted to see.
We headed over to the new Tempe Marketplace off the 101 & Rio Salado Parkway in Tempe. This was our first time there since it was just recently built and based on what we saw, that shopping center is going to be really nice once it's complete. The Harkins Theatre is one of the first merchants that's opened so far, and surprisingly it was actually buzzing with young people, most of with I'm assuming were from Arizona State which is right around the corner.
Justin, my Mother and I caught the 7:45 showing of Ocean's 13 and it was really pretty entertaining, much better then the 2nd in the series. The interaction between George Clooney and Brad Pitt just seems so natural, I love watching them together. The movie let out around 10 PM and on our way out of the theatre we saw the line starting in the lobby for the midnight showing of Transformers on the new Harkins Cine Capri, which happens to be Arizona largest single movie screen. Justin and I looked at each other and smirked. We dropped my Mother off at her place in Chandler, said our goodbyes, and decided to turn right around and head back to the theatre to catch the midnight showing.
We were back at the Cine Capri by around 11 and managed to get some pretty good seats. The theatre was buzzing with people who like Justin, were very excited about the release of this movie. The Transformers was on television when I was a child, but it was more towards the end of my childhood and I really didn't spend much time in front of the television back then, so while I wanted to see the movie, my level of excitement was not necessarily as high as everyone else's.
The movie ended right around 2:30 AM and I quite enjoyed it. The special effects were amazing, the story was pretty good and even came with a few comedic moments. Josh Duhmel is always hot in any role, and Shia LaBeouf is a funny and cute rising star, both of whom added to my viewing pleasure. It was probably one of the better movies of this genre that I've seen this year.
It was definitely worth trekking back to the theatre for the late night showing not only because it turned out to be a good movie, , but also because I knew that getting to see it on opening night really made Justin happy. And for me, good movie or not, that was worth it. Cheers.Labels: Movies
